Kurukulle Empowerment by Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche

Kurukulle, also known as Pema Khandro, is a profound and dynamic manifestation of Red Tara, representing the powerful and compassionate feminine embodiment of Enlightened Wisdom. This semi-wrathful dakini is renowned for her unparalleled skill in magnetizing and attracting all positive resources and energies. As a central figure in Tibetan Buddhism, Kurukulle’s influence permeates across various traditions, where she is revered for her ability to draw in wisdom, happiness, health, wealth, and long life, acting as a magnet that brings forth an abundance of blessings.

Kurukulle’s practice holds a special place in Tibetan Buddhist spirituality as a terma, or ‘hidden treasure,’ which was revealed by the great terton Chokyur Lingpa. Termas are teachings that were concealed by enlightened masters to be rediscovered by future generations when the time is ripe. These teachings are considered incredibly potent and relevant for the specific era in which they are revealed. The practice of Kurukulle is part of this tradition, embedded within the 40 volumes of practices and scriptures that comprise the Chokling Tersar, the collection of Chokgyur Lingpa’s discovered termas.

Chokyur Lingpa,  uncovered these termas to benefit beings in times of spiritual need, ensuring the continuity and accessibility of profound tantric teachings. The Chokling Tersar, which translates to ‘New Treasures of Chokgyur Lingpa,’ encompasses a wide array of practices and texts, each designed to address various aspects of the path to enlightenment. Among these treasures, the practice of Kurukulle stands out for its unique ability to magnetize and attract the conditions conducive to spiritual and worldly well-being.

Kurukulle’s imagery and symbolism are rich with meaning. She is often depicted in a vibrant red hue, symbolizing her dynamic and magnetic energy. Her semi-wrathful demeanor reflects her power to subdue negative forces while simultaneously bestowing blessings. As a dakini, or a female embodiment of enlightened energy, Kurukulle embodies the wisdom aspect of enlightenment, balancing the fierce and compassionate aspects necessary for the path to liberation.

We are delighted to announce that on this auspicious day, we will be offering a special Kurukulle empowerment ceremony. This empowerment, conducted by Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche, will provide practitioners with the transmission of Kurukulle’s blessings and the authorization to engage in her practice.
