Salzkammergut 2024: Spaces of transformation

Together with the architecture departments of three universities – the University of Innsbruck, the University of Kassel and the UCL Bartlett School of Architecture – several places of inner contemplation and meditation will be created on our site.

The approximately 3-6 pavilions are designed and realized by the students as part of their courses. The result will be inspiring spaces that blend into the landscape of the Bäckerberg and invite you to find peace and quiet. The characteristics of the pavilions are also coordinated with the location, primarily using regional materials. The students work with local cooperation partners to implement the project.

The students from Kassel and Innsbruck were with us from November 4-12 and were inspired to create their first designs. It was a wonderful, invigorating week: during several meditation and teaching sessions with Erric Solomon, the students were able to delve deeply into the topic of Buddhism. Excursions to local partners; Fritz Wolf, Sägewerk Löberbauer, Trewitt and Tischlerei Beck, provided the opportunity to get to know the craftsmanship and natural knowledge of the surrounding area. At the end of 2023/beginning of 2024, the 3-6 designs will be selected (1-2 per university), which will ultimately be realized on site from spring 2024.
