Powerful practice: Vajrakilaya and Chöd

From February 21 to 27, Gomde and the venerable nuns Ani Kunga and Ani Kunchok Palmo invite you to an intensive practice retreat dedicated to the powerful Vajrakilaya and Chöd practices. This retreat offers a unique opportunity to dive deep into these transformative practices and prepare for the Tibetan New Year.

Highlights of the retreat:

  • February 22 – Dakini Day:
On this special day, we will dedicate ourselves to the comprehensive practice of “Rinchen Trenwa Chöd”, a profound Chöd practice aimed at cutting through attachments and removing obstacles.
  • February 27 – Protector Day:
The focus is on Vajrakilaya practice, a powerful method for overcoming obstacles and purifying negativities. In Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, it is tradition to practice Vajrakilaya at the end of the year to start the new year full of energy and free from obstacles.

On the other days, we will practice both the protector practice of Vajrakilaya and the short Chöd practice. Ani Kunga and Ani Kunchok Palmo are experienced practitioners in both disciplines and will share their deep knowledge and experience with the participants.

About the practices:

  • Vajrakilaya Practice:
Vajrakilaya is an extremely powerful, wrathful manifestation of enlightened activity. The practice of this yidam deity shatters outer and inner obstacles, especially those that hinder us in our Dharma practice. Vajrakilaya eliminates all negativity and mental obscurations.
  • Chöd Practice:
This profound practice, developed by the great master Machig Labdrön, aims to cut through attachment to the ego. Through the symbolic offering of one’s own body, compassion and wisdom are cultivated to attain liberation.

Prerequisites
Participation in this seminar requires refuge vows and a Vajrakilaya empowerment. It is also beneficial to have a basic understanding of Buddhist philosophy and practice, for example through a seminar with Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche or a weekend seminar with one of our Lamas. The focus of this weekend is on reciting the practice text, so prior experience in sadhana practice is very helpful.
If you don’t have prior experience but have a strong interest in sadhana practice, feel free to register and let us know in the comments.

Schedule
The seminar begins on Friday at 4 PM and ends on Thursday at 12:00 PM. We ask you to arrive by 3:30 PM to allow for a relaxed check-in.
If you have experience and empowerment for these practices, participation on individual days is also possible.

Your Contribution
We want to make participation in the seminars at Gomde possible for everyone. Therefore, we offer the seminars, accommodation, and meals for a donation and provide you with a suggested amount that would help Gomde cover the fixed costs.

For this seminar, it is: 720 Euros

If you can give more, you will enable others with fewer financial resources to participate. If you can give less than the guideline value, please let us know when you register.

Ani Kunga and Ani Kunchok Palmo

Ani Kunga entered the nunnery Nagi Gompa at the age of 15 and has since dedicated herself with deep commitment to Buddhist practice. As one of the two Vajra masters of the monastery, she possesses exceptionally well-founded knowledge and experience in tantric practice. Her spiritual maturity was further deepened through a three-year retreat under the direct guidance of Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. For almost forty years, she has devoted most of her time to intensive practice and teaches with great empathy and care. Ani Kunchok Palmo, also from Nagi Gompa, is an experienced nun with an equally impressive spiritual career. She too entered the monastery at a young age and completed a three-year retreat, during which she deepened her practice and devotion. Rinpoche himself chose her to come to Gomde to act as a source of stability and inspiration for practitioners. Both nuns are distinguished by their deep connection to practice and their ability to pass on their knowledge and experience in an accessible and inspiring way.
