Removing obstacles – releasing knowledge
A Vajrakilaya practice retreat with Drubla Ani Pema Khandro and Ani Phüntsok Sangmo
About the practice
Sangtik Phurba – The secret heart essence of Vajrakilaya is an atiyoga (dzogchen) sadhana and is considered the highest practice of Vajrakilaya. It is said to have a particularly powerful effect in removing external, internal and innermost obstacles on the path to realization. Rich in blessings and at the same time easy to practice, it has become one of the central yidam practices of the Chokling Tersar lineage.
Vajrakilaya is the wrathful manifestation of Vajrasattva and embodies the enlightened activity of all Buddhas. In Sangtik Phurba practice, these two powerful yidams – Vajrakilaya and Vajrasattva – are skillfully combined to support rapid realization and attainment.
A profound method for advanced practice
The collective practice provides a beautiful opportunity to maintain and deepen the samayas created in the context of received wang empowerments while practicing in the supportive Sangha community.
Vajrakilaya blesses us and the world with the complete blessings of enlightened body, speech and mind. As practitioners who have already undergone deep purification enter more subtle and advanced stages of the path, more subtle obstacles naturally arise. The closer one comes to enlightenment, the more residual obscurations come to the surface – to be cleared either through maturation or through specific purification practices.
At this point, the powerful method of Kilaya’s profound essence is applied, which perfectly combines the ultimate view with skillful, powerful means.
Connection with the practice energy of Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery

About the leaders of the retreat
Drubla Ani Pema Khandro was ordained in 1986 at the age of 25. She completed the traditional three-year retreat and currently works as one of the vajra masters (Dorje Lopön) of the Nagi Gompa nunnery.
Lama Ani Phüntsok Sangmo has also completed the traditional three-year retreat and is an experienced practitioner at Nagi Gompa Nunnery.
Nagi Gompa nunnery:
Nagi Gompa was the residence and retreat of the late Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. Under his guidance, the nuns there developed a strong tradition of meditation and Vajrayana practice, including the Sangtik Phurba practice. Their practice is so highly regarded that even high-ranking Tibetan Buddhist masters regularly request prayers from the nuns, such as Tara practices.
Practicing a sadhana with nuns from a living, authentic transmission means experiencing practice as a living teaching: Melodies that have arisen from realization and have been passed down through generations work beyond words and concepts and open up a space in which blessing, letting go and the condensed essence of the practice can unfold naturally.
