The Short History of the Lojong and Tonglen Tradition

Loving kindness and compassion are qualities that are inherent in all beings, but we often lose access to them in everyday life. Emotions overwhelm us and so we are unable to help ourselves or others. However, our nature is open and compassionate.

The Buddhist mind training Lojong provides us with a series of simple exercises to strengthen compassion and bodhichitta. It is based on shamata, a meditation technique that calms and focuses our mind so that we can use our mindfulness in a targeted way.

Tonglen is a central practice: We mentally take on the suffering of others and give them the gift of our happiness. By transforming our thought patterns, we recognize our connection with others, become more open, gentler and treat ourselves and others with more compassion.

Schedule: The online meditation sessions take place every Tuesday at 19:00 via Zoom.
