Begin or deepen your Ngöndro practice at Shedrub Mandala’s only month-long Ngöndro retreat outside Nepal.
Why should I go on a Ngöndro retreat?
Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche inspires us with the following words: “The one-month Ngöndro retreat is a life-changing opportunity. To progress further on the path, it is essential to practice Ngöndro thoroughly and comprehensively. This foundation transforms us into true practitioners and gives us the confidence to practice daily and ensure we never miss a session. After the month-long retreat, you will enjoy the practice, understand its importance and continue it with enthusiasm.
“This retreat offers you the opportunity to explore the practice of the “preliminary exercises”, Ngöndro, in depth and to develop discipline for daily practice.
How and what will be practiced during the retreat?
Under the guidance of experienced and learned monks and nuns from Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery and Nagi Gompa, selected by Rinpoche, we will practice four sessions together, each lasting 2 hours, i.e. 8 hours a day.
In each session we will recite the Ngöndro liturgy as well as various other important texts of the tradition: “Calling the Guru from afar”, the Noble Sutra of the Remembrance of the Three Jewels, aspiration prayers, the Heart Sutra, confessions and dedications, and the practice of Cho. There will also be a daily session of teachings and Q&A.
We learn all parts of the Ngöndro in detail by concentrating on one part for a few days at a time. Our focus changes approximately every four days, but the entire liturgy is recited in each session.
It is advisable to read and study this text repeatedly in advance; we will send the text to registered participants in advance.

Costs
Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche generously supported the retreat in Nepal from his personal funds, making it a great success in Nepal. The monastery provided breakfast, lunch and dinner for all practitioners and encouraged concentration and fellowship during the breaks. Last year’s retreat in Nepal was attended by 1,700 participants who experienced profound changes in their lives.
In keeping with Rinpoche’s generous attitude, Gomde is offering this retreat free of charge so that anyone who would like to dedicate themselves intensively to Ngöndro practice for a month can take part. Anyone who has the opportunity and would like to support this project is welcome to make a donation. Any amount is welcome and will be used for food, heating the rooms in winter and supporting the valuable teachers who guide us.
Your contribution:
5-10 euros per day would be a symbolic contribution to this worthwhile event.
35 euros per day would roughly cover the costs of Gomde.
70 euros per day would help to fund your participation and that of another person who cannot contribute.
Any amount, large or small, will help to make this retreat possible!
