Losar- Tibetan New Year and special days
Level: All Levels
February 17: Sang offering practice in preparation for Losar – Gathering favorable conditions for all beings
With Drubla Ani Pema Khandro, Ani Phüntsok Sangmo and Lama Öser
On the last day of the Tibetan year, the day before Losar, we cordially invite you to join us in a special, more extensive Sang incense offering practice. This traditional Vajrayana practice serves to clear obstacles, gather favorable conditions and renew the environment and mindstream for the coming year.
This chant is practiced as a deep cleansing and renewal, with offerings to the enlightened ones, the protectors and karmic debtors, as well as care for all beings in need of support – so that harmony, health and true goodness can flourish. As such rich incense offerings are traditionally reserved for special occasions such as the time before Losar, the collective practice at this transition of the year unfolds a special power.
You are cordially invited to participate in this extended Pre-Losar chant – we are not only practicing for ourselves, but dedicating the resulting power to the good of the world, so that obstacles are cleared and favorable circumstances are increased for all beings.

Losar practice: Starting the Tibetan New Year in the Dharma
With Drubla Ani Pema Khandro, Ani Phüntsok Sangmo and Lama Öser
On Losar Day, the Tibetan New Year, we come together in the morning to start the new year with Dharma practice, alignment and auspicious connection. Instead of worldly celebrations, we dedicate this day to turning towards awakening, renewing motivation and setting a wholesome direction for the year ahead.
The practice includes prayers and wishes for peace and well-being, offerings and exercises to promote harmony, clarity and conducive circumstances.
Starting the new year together in this way is considered particularly meaningful: it enables the coming year to be anchored in refuge, bodhicitta and devotion and the resulting merit to be dedicated to the well-being of all beings – for family, community and the world.

About the leaders of the retreat
Drubla Ani Pema Khandro was ordained in 1986 at the age of 25. She completed the traditional three-year retreat and currently works as one of the vajra masters (Dorje Lopön) of the Nagi Gompa nunnery.
Lama Ani Phüntsok Sangmo has also completed the traditional three-year retreat and is an experienced practitioner at Nagi Gompa Nunnery.
Nagi Gompa nunnery:
Nagi Gompa was the residence and retreat of the late Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. Under his guidance, the nuns there developed a strong tradition of meditation and Vajrayana practice, including the Sangtik Phurba practice. Their practice is so highly regarded that even high-ranking Tibetan Buddhist masters regularly request prayers from the nuns, such as Tara practices.
Practicing a sadhana with nuns from a living, authentic transmission means experiencing practice as a living teaching: Melodies that have arisen from realization and have been passed down through generations work beyond words and concepts and open up a space in which blessing, letting go and the condensed essence of the practice can unfold naturally.
