Buddhist mind training: Lojong and Tonglen

Seminar: Developing compassion – finding freedom

Kindness and compassion are part of our innermost nature. Nevertheless, we often lose access to them in everyday life. This seminar shows ways in which we can consciously develop these qualities again – not only for others, but also as a path to inner freedom.

The focus is on the practice of tonglen, a powerful meditation that dissolves self-centeredness – the inner attitude that, according to Buddhist teachings, is a main source of our suffering. By learning to consciously accept the suffering of others and to wish them joy, we develop genuine compassion and open our minds.

In addition, we practise Shamata, the meditation of calmness of mind, to strengthen concentration and inner clarity. Step by step, this creates a foundation on which we can anchor compassion, serenity and openness in our everyday lives.

This seminar is aimed at anyone who wants to learn or deepen their knowledge of meditation and wishes to live more freely, relaxed and compassionately.

Lama Thierry

Lama Thierry, a Swiss “yogi”, who after twelve years as a Buddhist monk – six of them in retreat – now works and teaches in our center, will guide us in this training. He will speak from his own experience, find vivid examples from everyday life with which we can identify, and draw on his extensive knowledge of the Tibetan scriptures on this subject.

Schedule

We start on Friday at 4 pm and end the seminar on Sunday at 12 noon. Accommodation will be in comfortable single or, on request, double rooms. In addition to the meditation sessions and courses, there will be plenty of time to enjoy the nature around Gomde, go for walks and relax.

Recommended donation

240 euros for seminar, full board and accommodation
We would like to enable all interested parties to participate in our seminars. We therefore give a guideline value that covers the fixed costs in Gomde. If you are fortunate enough to be able to give more, you make it possible for someone with fewer resources to attend. If you can give less, please contact nanda@gomde.eu in advance.
