Exploring What Makes You Not a Buddhist
by Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche

Starting Sunday, 22 February | 5–6 PM (CET) | Online via Zoom
Language: English | Free of charge

What if being Buddhist isn’t about beliefs, labels, or getting things “right”, but about honestly looking at how we think, act, and relate to the world?

In this online book club, the Dharma Gyan Youth group invites young adults (18–35) and all who feel inspired to join in exploring “What Makes You Not a Buddhist,” a sharp, playful, and deeply thought-provoking book by Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche. The book challenges common assumptions about Buddhism and gently pushes us to question what we usually take for granted — with humour, clarity, and depth.

We meet every Sunday from 5–6 PM (CET) on zoom.
The first session on 22 February is an introduction: why this book, how the book club works, and what to read next. No preparation is needed — just come as you are.

Each session includes:

  • a short introduction to the week’s chapter or theme
  • small-group discussions for open, honest conversation related to the chapters and topics
  • guiding questions that help to connect the read text with real-life experience and daily life

The book club is facilitated by a Dharma Gyan Youth member, with an occasional input and Q&A session with Lama Öser, offering the chance to ask questions and hear from an experienced practitioner.

No prior knowledge is required. The intention is to offer clarity, inspiration to practice, and meaningful connection, while forming a youth community that explores the Buddhist path in a genuine, contemporary, and down-to-earth way.
