Every second Friday, starting from 19th March at 7pm Austrian time (please mind the time change in late March), Lama Bruce will lead a class on integrating the Dharma into our own experience. Our class will feature guided meditations and discussion on how to enhance our meditation.
Mindfulness meditation is the basis for any deepening meditation practice. Through mindfulness, our mind stabilizes and comes to rest. Building on this tranquility, we can progress along the path of Buddhist mind training. We will be using guided meditations to help us delve deep into our innate ability to rest.
From within calmness, a sense of love and kindness can begin to blossom. The cultivation of love has a pivotal role in both Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. It is the foundation of compassion, bodhicitta, and devotion, which in turn lead us directly to the awakened mind. We will also be exploring its healing and transformative power.
We will have supportive dialogues on how to delve deeper into our practice now that most of us are staying at home and on how to use meditation to deal with our anxiety and other reactions to the great changes that are happening both to ourselves and the world around us.
We will be aquiring skills that are applicable to any meditation one would be doing and not limited to what we are doing in class.
We will be meeting on Zoom.
This class is open to everybody. Lama Bruce will alternate the classes on the text “The Jewel Ornament of Liberation” with the meditation classes, so both seminar series enhance each other. The meditation sessions will be open for anyone to join without registration. This is the Zoom Link:
Lama Bruce Newman is an authoritative teacher whose teachings arise from his personal experience in meditation, retreat and study in both East and West. This understanding of both the Western and Eastern approaches to the Dharma makes him uniquely qualified to teach the Dharma to Western students in a way that they can truly understand and integrate into their daily lives.
Lama Bruce Newman completed a four-year retreat and has been a Tibetan Buddhist practitioner, and teacher, for 45 years.
He has received extensive training in the Kagyu and Nyingma lineages from many high lamas.
His main teachers are Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche, son of Tulku Orgyen Rinpoche and disciple of the 16th Karmapa, and Ven. Gyatrul Rinpoche. Under the auspices of Ven. Gyatrul Rinpoche and Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche, Lama Bruce has been teaching for 25 years. He teaches meditation practice and book study courses, combining the qualities of self-awareness with the study of the classical texts. He has also taught at several gomdes in California and Europe and now teaches several classes on Zoom. He is the author of the book, A Beginner's Guide to Tibetan Buddhism.
Lama Bruce's extensive knowledge and experience of the Dharma is underpinned by an absolute commitment to transmitting it in a pure manner, without transgression or alteration, making this course the perfect way to offer participants an authentic way to study, contemplate and apply the Dharma.
In this course we will learn the basics of meditation practice step by step. We will practice with guided meditations.
The dates are every second Friday from March 19. Lama Bruce will adapt his teachings and the meditations to the group. He will also explain insights from the seminar on the text "The Jewel Jewel of Liberation" by Gampopa, when the opportunity arises.

Bliss is your superpower
A weekly "research journey" to discover natural consciousness and love, taught by Erric Solomon
All three programs introduce key elements of Mahayana and open the door to Vajrayana practice, not only on an intellectual level but in direct application.
Because they cover similar topics, but from a different perspective, these (2-) weekly teaching and practice groups will complement each other perfectly.
