Bodhicitta for Yogis: Exploring the Unity of Wisdom and Compassion
Erric Solomon | 3. June 2021 to 13. June

During these seminars, we’ll explore what is the potential of human existence and how can we begin to realize it.
As the incomparable master the 3rd Karmapa, Rangjung Dorje taught: In the moment of great love, empty essence nakedly dawns.
What is this love? It is compassion (karuna) and Loving Kindness (metta). It’s pointing to the possibility that our fully realized potential is an inconceivable well-spring beyond any limit.
And this great love is why devotion is also emphasized in Vajrayana practice. It is sometimes called a universal remedy. That kind of love can cure our most subtle but stubborn afflictions. It is what clears away everything that keeps us from seeing ourselves and others authentically. This love is the beginning of awakening our Bodhicitta.
First weekend: 3 to 6 June
Uncovering Bodhicitta
The key to uncovering Bodhicitta is a fearless commitment to serving all beings. In order to do that we need the foundation of basic sanity, a healthy sense of self — insight into the untouchable wellspring of basic contentment that underlies all experience. Using texts and teachings from the great masters of the past, participants will gain the tools to discover this as living experience. We’ll explore both the spacious, openness that is the basis of all experience, and developing the great love that is the natural expression of our innate wisdom.
By using our mind to carefully analyze our circumstances, and using our own emotions and body to gain stability, this combination becomes a gateway to insight.
Second Weekend: 11 to 13 June
Diving into emptiness
During this follow-on to the first weekend seminar, Erric will delve even deeper into this topic— the unity of wisdom and compassion. We can intellectually understand the wisdom of emptiness, and we can experience the arising of compassion. Can we experience their unity?
This is most suitable for those who have already attended the first weekend seminar or have participated in Erric’s online course, or are already more experienced practitioners. Oftentimes, we receive sublime teachings, yet later we begin to doubt what we experienced. This seminar will help you gain authentic confidence in your practice.
During the week; June 7 to 10

Erric Solomon
Throughout his career as a Silicon Valley technology entrepreneur, and now as an author and innovative Buddhist meditation teacher, Erric has been interested in understanding the mind and how it functions, both as a user experience designer and as a mind hacker.
As a teenage participant in the Logo Group at M.I.T.’s Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, he interacted with some of the world’s deepest thinkers on how to make intelligent machines. This experience inspired a lifelong passion to understand the mind and how it functions and led Erric to the study of Buddhist theories of mind and the nature of consciousness.
Erric has studied at the feet of some of the world’s greatest spiritual masters (including Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche and Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche) had close relationships with some of the best Artificial Intelligence researchers, and later spent several years in retreat maturing what he learned.
Phakchok Rinpoche and Erric Solomon wrote the book Radically Happy: A User’s Guide to the Mind.
