Tara Sadhana practice and reflection

Ani Tsering Chötön, Ani Tenzin Sangmo, Lama Thierry | 21. August 2020 to 23. August

#Tara Ⓒ Arez

Tara (Skt. Tārā; Drolma, "She who liberates") is a feminine aspect of the enlightened mind. Above all, it is associated with compassionate, enlightened activity. In this seminar, we will get to know Tara’s liberating qualities under the guidance of Ani Tsering Chödrön, Ani Tenzin Sangmo and Ulli Olvedi.

We will practicethe outer Sadhana of Tara with the nuns from Nagi Gompa in , the "essence of the two accumulations" and in a daily Q&A with Ulli Olvedi we will talk about Tara's wisdom, compassion and activity.

Our nuns from Nagi Gompa are very closely connected with the practice of Tara. Sponsors often ask in Nagi Gompa for 100,000 recitations of praise to the 21 Taras, and outer Tara Sadhana is practiced every morning in the monastery.
Ani Tsering Chödrön and Ani Tenzin Sangmo embody Tara's qualities through this intensive practice and we are very happy that we can practice with them! We will sing the melodies handed down by Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche's mother, Mayum Kunsang Dechen, while reciting Tara Sadhana's.

Ulli Olvedi lived in Nagi Gompa for many years and had the opportunity to become familiar with tara practice. It is very precious to talk to such a long-term, experienced practitioner. Ulli Olvedi's specialty is above all to bridge the gap between Eastern tradition and Western thinking.

Since this seminar will have a special form, no instruction will be given on the sadhana itself. Participants should either already be familiar with sadhana, or simply enjoy the atmosphere of the practice without explanations of the text. For practitioners of the "The Threefold Excellence of Tara" program, this seminar is well suited to practice outer Tara Sadhana.

Schedule

As always, we start on Friday at 4 p.m. and end the seminar on Sunday at lunchtime.

Besides the meditation sessions and teachings, there will be enough time to enjoy Gomde’s beautiful surroundings, to take a walk and to rest.

Nuns from Nagi Gompa

Ani Tsering Chödron and Ani Tenzin Sangmo are both nuns at Nagi Gompa, a nunnery up in the mountains above the Kathmandu valley in Nepal. The nuns there are practicing the Dharma one-pointedly, far away from distractions of busy city life. Nagi Gompa is the place where Chökyi Nyima Rinpoches late father, Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, spent many years. Our nuns are carrying on his lineage and are radiating the immense blessings that flow from a life dedicated to the pure practice of the Dharma. They are examples of devotion and compassion, embodying these qualities with a humble mind full of dignity.

Ulli Olvedi

Ulli Olvedi lived in Nagi Gompa for many years and had the opportunity to become familiar with tara practice. It is very precious to talk to such a long-term, experienced practitioner. Ulli Olvedi's specialty is above all to bridge the gap between Eastern tradition and Western thinking.
