In this seminar with Erric Solomon, we learn how to care for ourselves, as we learn to care for others—A profound joy arises through cultivating loving-kindness, compassion and empathy. We nurture ourselves by learning to engage the world with an open heart. First we need to base our endeavor on a healthy sense of self, free from anxiety and self-denigration. Next, our actions are informed by the interconnected nature of reality. In this way, we meet the dynamic, intensity of daily life head-on and heart-open. With easy-to-access tools, we get to work with the mechanisms of the mind, learn to walk through everyday life in a more present, attentive and conscious manner and find a subtle way to inner well-being even in stressful situations. The meditation and mindfulness exercises can be effortlessly integrated into everyday life. In this way we face the dynamic intensity of daily life head-on and openly. Based on Radically Happy: A User’s Guide to the Mind, developed in collaboration with the Buddhist master, Phakchok Rinpoche.
Erric Solomon worked for many years in the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. There he developed his interest in understanding the human mind and how it works. So he found a way to Buddhism and learned from spiritual masters such as Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche and Nyoshul Khen Rinpoche. Erric Solomon speaks English, it will be translated.
