How to study Buddhism

Khenpo Urgyen Thenpel, James Gentry, Ana Lopes | 14. June 2019 to 16. June

How do Buddhists gain their understanding? What is considered true and why? Which approach is helpful and how are refuge, compassion and devotion related to it?

During this weekend we will get an introduction into Buddhist philosophy and didactic. We learn how to read and understand philosophical texts and see how they can help us to deepen and improve our practice. We will also meditate together and contemplate the main points of Buddhist philosophy in order to gain insight into the Buddha's teachings ourselves.

The teachers will be Khenpo Urgyen Tenphel, James Gentry and Ana Lopes, the professors of our academic summer course. All three of them are experienced practitioners and well-known scholars.

This weekend-course is a unique chance to get some „academic feeling“, to go deep into the Buddhist way of thinking and to learn methods that simplify our studies.
